Happy Christmas, everyone!
omg, guess WHAT? I'm going to NYC! (in the summer..but still) who wants to say "merry christmas, katelyn?" I've got tickets to see hugh in LESTAT, howard in poto and WICKED. I might be stopping in to say hi to Gary is he's in New york instead of Vegas when he leaves the tour (I really hope he goes to B'way)
^_^
yay. one big, fat, earspltting, dog annoying YAY
Phantom was on saturday. It was AMAZING (of couse, it always IS). just wow. ok, so I should probably tell you everything from the beginning; it's gonna be long, so just hang in there with me, ok?
SO, I dragged my dad down with me to Cincinatti ( I dont have my lincense yet, and he had never seen the show ) for a matinee performance. in short, the whole performance was breathtaking! Dad had no idea who Gary and Beth were, well, he knew Gary was the Phantom. that was it. I kept having to point out beth in the show until he figured out she was Christine. He was compleatly blown away by her "think of me" (which IS amazing). as well as Gary. In short though, we were both in tears by the end. I just LOVE gary and Beth together, they work well onstage . however, only a few people had stood durring curtain call when John Cudia (Raoul) came out, and only about 2 more when Beth did. so, Naturally, I had to join them. after awhile, people generally got the idea that "oh gee, this guy played the LEAD maybe we stood applaude him more" so I can proudly say I partly started the standing ovation. Gary also gave a little speech asking us to donate to "Broadway Cares" a foundation that helps those with AIDS. we did.
After the performance I attempted to find the stage door (which is really far along the side of the Arnoff!). when I FINALLY found it, the security guard wanted to know who I was waiting for, I told him that Gary knew I was comming etc etc. ANYWAY, eventually Beth came out to sign autographs for like, the 2 other fans there, and saw me and was "oh come on back! Gary's waiting for ya" I had to drag my dad along with me he "didn't want to intrude on my space" to which I told him that he was at the performance, he can meet the cast too . Gary was waiting just backstage (still in the phantom make-up) and gave me a very enthusiastic hug (he gives GREAT hugs btw). He lead us to his dressing room-and we chatted for a little while. They were both pressed for time. Beth had to go "rescue" their kids from the babysitter. Gary joked that since they only had one car, he had to go with her, and that whe would prefer not to be stuck in the theater all night . He usually doesn't go out inbetween shows because of the deformity, but that he was going out with his hood up, he was "not going to be responsible for any auto accidents because of this [deformity]". We all laughed over that one for awhile. We chatted about how the audience in Cincinatti seemed to be really quiet. Gary was like "yea, you know, it's ok to cheer after songs and such". I can proudly say I was one of the few that started the standing ovation. again. yay. I had brought down Cheryls Cookies for the two of them, and their family. Gary loved it, and in his words I've "saved him" (apparently Beth is a health nut-I'm not surprised ). More hugs from everyone. at this point, Gary started looking around his dressing table, for something, then he turned to me and was like "You know when you put your glasses on top of your head, and forget they're there?-I was looking for the prosthetic, but I'm wearing aren't I?" to which I replied, that yes, he was. Apparently our Phantom has some short-term mem. problems . All through this dad was just watching (still in shock that Gary, Beth and I were on a frist-name baises with each other). he eventually started talking with beth, and complemented her on her performance, saying she made him cry. She was flattered, and said that you could always tell when they men in the audience started crying because a coughing fit usually breaks out. "they try to cough and make it sound masculine". she did a hilairious imitation of it too. to which gary said that he didn't do that . They are hilairious together. By this time though, we had been chatting for a half hour to 45 minutes, and they still needed to "rescue" their kids, so we headed out (more hugs from Gary), wished them both a happy christmas, and good luck on the rest of the tour. To everyone in flordia-no news on wehter or not they're staying until Jacksonville.
*whew* wow! that was long, but I HAD to get it all down. now, for the lovely lovely pics! I look like crap in most of them, so ignore me.

ok, now before you say anything-yes, Gary's in make-up. I hate myself in this pic, I look REALLY fat. I mean, I'm fat anyway, but this just makes it look worse. but yea, me laughing at something Gary said.

Gary signing something for a friend for an xmas gift. *cough* yea, that would be his dressing room.
